On Friday 24th January Raasay pupils celebrated Chinese New Year. As part of the celebrations, pupils helped to prepare a Chinese themed lunch with Annabelle. Based on their menu choices, previously discussed in class, the menu consisted of: chicken in black bean sauce, vegetable stir fry, vegetable noodles and vegetable spring rolls. For pudding it was bite-sized banana fritters. As you can see it was extremely yummy and pupils had the opportunity to practise using chopsticks – as we discovered they take a lot of practice! Pupils also made their own Chinese lanterns and traditional dragon masks and also learnt about the history of the Chinese zodiac. Pupils also researched how Chinese New Year was celebrated in China and were surprised to discover that the celebrations go on for 15 days!
