Cinderella

On Friday 13th December, Raasay Primary School pupils performed their annual school Christmas Show – which, this year, was Cinderella. With this classic fairytale as inspiration, we came up with our own ‘Raasay’ version and follow the story of the beautiful Ella as she contends with the trials and tribulations of life with her new stepfamily.

Pupils performed to a packed audience who thoroughly enjoyed the performance. You will find a link to the video of the show on the right hand side of our webpage – video credit Calum Gillies.

Well done to our amazing pupils!

Fireworks Safety

On Monday 4th November P.C. Nina visited the school to talk to the children about safety around fireworks and bonfires. Pupils learned how to handle sparklers in a safe way – by using a carrot as handle! And also how to extinguish them safely afterwards. As always – thank you to P.C. Nina for a really fun and informative visit (we promise, she did release the ‘prisoners’ from the van before she left for Skye!)

Coffee Day

It’s that time of year again! Our annual Coffee Day will be taking place on Saturday 2nd November. This is the one day of the year when we raise money for our school funds, the rest of the year we focus on raising money for charities, both local and national. This year the Pupil Council have identified that they would like to develop the outdoor play space at the back of the school with a view to creating a trim trail and adventure space. Our fundraising efforts will support this. This year, the pupils developed an Enterprise logo – ACORNS (All Children Of Raasay Nursery and School) to be used on the products they are creating for the sale. They researched ideas for developing a design, sent it to a stamp company and are now busy on the production line stamping their products before the big day. They have created some beautiful Egyptian themed Christmas cards, hand-made scented candles and beeswax wraps to sell on the day. We hope you will come along on the day to enjoy the delicious food at the Parent Council Cafe and all the usual stalls and prizes. There will also be some outdoor challenges including

archery, dumper challenge, golf and football challenge  – see you there, 11am to 3pm!

School Grounds

This term, after discussion at a Pupil Council meeting, it was decided that pupils would like to develop the back area of the school grounds. Lots of ideas were forthcoming and pupils will be working with the Parent Council over the next few weeks and months to develop their ideas.
