The Big Pedal

We even managed to rope PC Stone. our school liaison officer, into our Big Pedal Challenge! He did very well but we still managed to out-cycle him!

Raasay Primary School signed up to the cycling challenge ‘The Big Pedal’ run by the charity Sustrans. This is the biggest two-wheels challenge in the UK and over 100 schools in Scotland have signed up. The aim is to get the largest proportion of pupils, parents and staff to scoot and cycle into school over the two week period. In order for all the pupils to be able to take part in the challenge – we set up our own circuit within the school grounds. Our aim was to try to clock up 100 miles over the 2 week period which would be the equivalent of cycling to Inverness. The pupils, however, have more than taken on board the challenge and the total miles cycled so far is approximately 190 with one week still to go! We’ll calculate our final destination based on the total miles after the two weeks. We will keep you updated as to how we get on once the challenge is complete. Well done to all the children for their commitment to the challenge.
